Fall Season in Quad Cities 2015

Crisp, cool air and shorter days signal the inevitable end to summer in the Quad Cities area. Our minds turn to thoughts of fall as trees transform into brilliant shades of red, yellow and orange along the banks of the Mississippi River. We instinctually put our summer accessories into storage and prepare for an exciting season of autumn festivals, celebrations and traditional events.

The Quad Cities offer endless opportunities for people to enjoy the area despite cooler temperatures. A few local favorites include:

    • Shopping at an outdoor market
Farmers’ markets and pumpkin patches dot the landscape offering fresh products from Midwestern farmers. Check out the popular Freight House Farmers Market and Pride of the Wapsi for a vast selection of fresh produce and homemade treasures.

    • Exploring wine country
The Quad Cities have a multitude of wonderful vineyards that offer distinct collections of wines, tours, tastings and special events. Get ready to raise your glass at the Creekside Vineyards Inn & Wine Terrace, Lavender Crest Winery or Wide River Winery.

    • Enjoying the changing landscape
The banks of the Mississippi River are breathtakingly beautiful as Mother Nature paints the trees bright shades of red, orange and yellow. The expansive landscape can be enjoyed a variety of ways that accommodate the needs and desires of everyone. If you wish to see a large area in a short amount of time, hop in your vehicle and head down the Great River Road Scenic Byway. Those looking for a more interactive experience can trek through Credit Island Park, Black Hawk State Historic Site or Loud Thunder Forest Preserve. Adventurers interested in embarking on a unique excursion may want to relax on an authentic riverboat cruise for a few hours or even a few days. The Celebration Belle and Twilight riverboats offer fine dining, entertainment and gorgeous views of the Mississippi River.
