Scarecrow is a John Mellencamp tribute band that has been playing together since 1985, at night clubs and festivals throughout Canada and the United States. Their energetic performances are live reproductions of many of John Mellencamp's hits, including "Pink Houses", "Jack and Diane", and "Hurts So Good". The band, based out of Ontario, Canada, features seven talented musicians who are dedicated to providing an authentic sound that delights Mellencamp fans. The band has a great time performing, which makes their shows especially enjoyable for audience members. And now you can be one of those audience members when Scarecrow performs at Isle Casino Hotel Bettendorf on July 3 at 8:30 pm.
The history of Scarecrow dates back nearly 30 years after a game of pick-up baseball, when a group of guys got together to form a jam band. The group was interested in playing either John Mellencamp or Bryan Adams, and ultimately decided on Mellencamp. They then adopted their name "Scarecrow" from the name of the 1985 John Mellencamp hit album.
Scarecrow played their first concert at a venue called C.W. Jeffrey's, for a Live Aid Benefit in North York, Ontario. The band became increasingly popular over the following years, playing at venues throughout the province. Although there were a few band member changes in the late 80s, including the addition of a female singer, the great sound remained the same. By the beginning of the next decade, Scarecrow had signed with Canada's largest talent agency and was touring throughout the country, playing 200 shows across five Canadian provinces. In 2004, the band started playing venues in the United States, rocking everything from local bars to large rock theaters.
Since that time, Scarecrow has performed all over North America, delighting audiences with their spot-on renditions of John Mellencamp's greatest songs. Scarecrow will be performing at Isle Casino Hotel Bettendorf on July 3. Purchase tickets at the IsleOne guest service center. Receive free beer on the casino after the event when you show your ticket.
